TANNING SALON VIDEO PERV GETS BURNED

In Aurora, IL a man has been charged with videotaping a woman in a tanning booth.

Bond was set at $30,000 for Manuel A. Lara, 29, who faces one count of unauthorized video recording, a Class 4 felony, as well as one count of disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor, according to Will County State’s Attorney’s office spokesman Charles Pelkie.

Last Tuesday evening, Bolingbrook police were called to L.A. Tan on East Boughton Road after a 30-year-old woman in a tanning booth reported seeing a man recording video of her.

“The victim was applying lotion when she observed a hand holding a camera coming from the adjacent booth,” Lt. Mike Rompa said. “(She) called out to the manager and reported what happened. They both confronted the subject in the next booth.”

Lara reportedly denied he’d used a camera and left the salon, but was met outside by responding officers.

“Officers located and seized a camera from Lara, which was found to contain a video of the victim,” Rompa said.

Lara was arrested and booked into the Will County Jail.

Under state law, it is unlawful to “knowingly make a video record or transmit live video of another person without that person’s consent in a restroom, tanning bed, tanning salon, locker room, changing room or hotel bedroom.”
