NAMES STEVE JAVORS AS ASSOCIATE MANAGING EDITOR

AVN Media Network is pleased to welcome Steve
Javors on board as the company’s associate managing editor.
A Brooklyn, N.Y., native, Javors comes to AVN
from XBIZ, where he was hired as a reporter in 2006. His
considerable talents as a journalist as well as his acumen
for the industry led to his swift ascent to the position of
editor-in-chief of XBIZ Premiere. Javors broke hundreds of
news stories across all sectors of the adult entertainment
industry, and directly managed the content, design,
production and promotion of the magazine, which covered the
video, novelty and GLBT sectors.
In his new position at AVN, Javors will use
his wide-ranging knowledge of the industry as well as his
extensive contacts to cover all aspects of adult
entertainment, reporting on daily news stories for AVN.com
and writing and editing in-depth features for the company’s
monthly magazine.
A respected journalist and knowledgeable
observer, Javors has been a source for commentary on various
aspects of the adult industry for the Los Angeles Times, US
Weekly, Las Vegas Sun, E! Online, Wired.com,
TheDailyBeast.com, and National Public Radio.
Javors cut his teeth in adult as the public
relations director for MALLcom, where he created the
company’s media kit, wrote press releases, organized its
trade-show presence, and planned exclusive parties in New
York, Miami and Las Vegas hosted by the industry’s top
stars.
Javors got his start in journalism as a
student at St. John’s University in Jamaica, N.Y., where he
served as the sports editor for the student newspaper. In
that capacity he covered the Red Storm’s nationally ranked
men’s basketball and soccer teams. He resigned his position
as sports editor in 2002 to accept a prestigious internship
in the public relations department with the New York Knicks
of the NBA.
In college Javors also interned for PSP
Sports, the nation’s largest publisher of game-day sports
programs. He edited and wrote spot copy for a plethora of
publications, including the official magazines of the
Seattle Mariners, New York Jets, Oakland Raiders and New
England Patriots. He also edited the Heisman Trophy section
of national game day insert Touchdown Illustrated.
Javors is an accomplished freelance sports
journalist whose work has been published in College
Basketball Illustrated, Newsday, Queens-Times Ledger,
NYKnicks.com and SportsUniversity.com.
