LOS ANGELES —
An adult
industry performer has tested positive for HIV, according to AIM
Healthcare officials.
AIM Healthcare clinic administrator Brooke Hunter
said they are quarantining and testing all exposed partners to
the individual, according to the LA Times.
Hunter would not release any further details
about the individual, but said they are doing everything they
can to notify the individuals involved.
FSC's Diane Duke told XBIZ that AIM responded in
a professional manner and is waiting to find out more
information about the case.
"AIM responded quickly to the matter and is
taking care of the needs of all the people involved."
Meanwhile, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, which
has been leading efforts to change California worker-safety
health code, held a press conference this afternoon to address
the HIV case.
“That a performer tested positive for HIV today —
and that more may be infected — was totally preventable,” said
Michael Weinstein, president of AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
“It is also living proof that testing is not
adequate protection against HIV/AIDS and other
sexually-transmitted diseases among porn performers."
