MICHIGAN POLITICIAN FACES INDECENT EXPOSURE
CHARGE FOR PUBLIC SEX ACT
In Michigan, the resignation of Oakland County
Commissioner Kim Capello is being called for by local democrats
after Capello pleaded guilty Tuesday to misdemeanor charges of
indecent exposure.
The 56-year-old Novi Republican County
Commissioner was arrested on April 18 after it was reported that
he was seen naked and having a late-night sex romp with a
37-year-old woman outside a condominium complex.
The woman, who was not charged with any crime,
was not Capello’s wife.
Capello is to be sentenced June 3 and could face
up to 93 days in jail.
“Rather than exposing our county to new job
opportunities, Kim Capello has indecently exposed himself,” Mike
McGuinness, chair of the Oakland County Democratic Party, wrote
in an e-mail. “As a resident of Novi and chairman of the Oakland
County Democratic Party I call upon Capello to do the right
thing and resign from the Oakland County Commission. Obviously
this is a difficult personal situation for Capello and his
family. As a public official, however, Kim Capello has a
responsibility to step aside when he’s no longer fit to serve.”
Capello, an attorney, is free on a personal bond.
He has three children and was elected to the Oakland County
Board of Commissioners in November.
