Why French Women Have More Sex Than American Women

French women are hotter, naturally. It could be their phglemy
accents, the fact that they’re always dressed up, or the way
they exude sexuality while smoking a cigarette waiting to pounce
on the closest man. Even past 50, their lips purse more than
their American counterparts, and they seem more willing to not
think twice about their arthritis medication before having sex
in a dingy alleyway. These are all stereotypes, of course,
however, this holds a smidgen of truth. So much so that The
Journal of Sex Research analyzed that French women over 50 had
more active sex lives than their American sisters.
Debra Ollivier, writer at Large at Hufftington Post, wondered
why French women do the nasty more, and went straight to the
source—Alain Giami, one of the principal directors in the study.
Giami explained that it is the importance of a relationship
among the French that ultimately determines their sex life.
“Our study shows that the possibility of having sex after 50 is
strongly dependent on the capacity to be in a relationship. If
one is not in a relationship, there is no sex.The fact that in
the States marriage is the exclusive option for couples makes it
difficult for men and women of this [older] age — especially if
they have already built a family in a previous relationship — to
get so strongly involved again,” he added. “In France, the
diversity of options for living in a couple seems to facilitate
the bonding of older men and women.” Giami states.
To put it bluntly, Ollivier explains, “That marriage is the
“exclusive option for couples” in America is debatable,
particularly with the rise of cohabitation in this country. That
said, even with these shifting cultural values we’re still
deeply beholden to the institution and business of marriage,
just as we’re deeply beholden to its evil twin, the institution
and business of divorce.” Yet, in comparison, Giami explains
that to the French, “Marriage is not the only honest and
responsible way of bonding.”
That’s not to say that American women take marriage less
seriously, however, as Giami explains, American women may have
“removed themselves from the sexual market,” thus because
there’s a possibility that they might not be interested in sex
anymore. Cosmetic surgery, and thousands upon thousands of
dollars in order to get the “ideal body and face” may appear
that the American woman is more sexual, however, that’s just
their outside—they may appear sexy, but that is not enough to
sustain a sexual relationship.
Ollivier wonders that if previously joked, French women live in
a sexy society where it is not shunned and open to the public.
However, when she asked former French Elle Editor,Michele
Fitoussi, the most defining line between
French women and American women she said: “French women
have a keen sense of the brevity of time and immediacy of
pleasure.”
On the other hand, with juggling schedules, relationships, jobs,
children, finances, and so forth—it’s American women that want
brief pleasure and more time.
Perhaps it’s about time women think of the alley as a good
dirty. Or, it couldn’t hurt to at least pounce on your husband
when he comes home from work.
