HOLLYWOOD, Calif. —
In what may turn out to be a porn role reversal of sorts, male
performer James Deen could be adult’s next mainstream crossover
star.
NBC Washington reported that Hollywood scribe Bret Easton Ellis,
who penned the cult hit “American Psycho,” tweeted that he
wanted Deen in his next Paul Schrader-directed small budget noir
film.
Schrader is a writer/director best known for major films
including “Taxi Driver,” “Raging Bull,”
“American Gigolo,” and more.
"James Deen is my first choice to play Christian or Ryan in LA
noir micro budget Paul Schrader movie I'm writing. Nudity and
acting a must...," Bret Easton Ellis tweeted through the
Hollywood blog, The Playlist.
Deen's appeal is his boy-next-door looks and intense on-screen
sexuality, unlike most of the typical buffed and ready male porn
stars. The combination has made him a fan favorite amongst a
host of female porn watchers.
The star confirmed the possibility and told XBIZ, “This is a
very exciting opportunity. Not much has been discussed yet. I
have been emailing back and forth with Ellis about the movie and
honestly I would be thrilled just to sit down and meet the man
even if I don't end up attached to the project.”
If cast, this would be Deen’s first role in a mainstream movie.
“When I was a child I was approached for a few acting projects
but I never proceeded because my dream has always been porn, and
mainstream seems like a bit of a distraction. I am excited about
this project mainly because it is Ellis and I hope I get to run
naked down a hallway holding a chainsaw [‘American Psycho’
reference],” he said.
