Cult Classic & The Original Parody and Spoof DRILLER: A SEXUAL
THRILLER XXX Finally Comes Back to Life on DVD
Source: Press Release
(Los Angeles, February 19, 2011) –
Devil’s Den
announces the re-mastered release of the controversial and
rarely-seen 1984 cult adults-only musical, DRILLER: A SEXUAL
THRILLER, available now for the very first time on DVD.
Unprecedented in scope and ahead of its time long
before the current Adult film parody craze, DRILLER: A SEXUAL
THRILLER wowed – and baffled – adult movie audiences in the
‘80s, sexing up the wildly popular Michael Jackson horror-movie
inspired music video THRILLER in all its ravenous glory. The
original music, grand musical dance numbers and flashy
performances didn’t quite resonate with porn fans 27 years ago,
but times have clearly changed.
The ambitious vintage musical showcases the
adventures of the notorious ‘Mr. J’ and his massive
special-effects enhanced ‘driller’ as he shows up in the bedroom
of superfan Louise (adult legend Tajia Rae), and transforms into
a hairy, horny werewolf and brings his prey to his dark, smoky
dungeon full of sex-starved zombies and hooded, flesh-hungry
creatures takes her on a tour of a dark and kinky underworld in
between silly musical numbers.
The 35mm film was believed lost for over 15 years
and has been restored to DVD for the first time with extra
unseen footage and bonus features, including an interview with
producer Timothy Green Beckley, who explains the reason for the
re-release.
"When originally released in 1984, the stage was
set for one of the most controversial cult-adult films of all
time. We were accused by the 'straight' press of being
pornographers who were ripping off the biggest musical genius of
all time… the so-called 'raincoat crowd' didn't understand what
we were trying to accomplish by have an adult movie with real
dancers, singers and our own Michael Jackson doppelgänger.
“I am pleased to see Driller making the rounds to
an entirely new - more hip - audience who understands that the
adult market is a more mixed bag of tricks today.”
The most bizarre erotic film to hit the blue
screen in many a full moon.
