Tori Lux Is One Dirty “Sex-positive feminist person”

By Troy Michael

Growing up porn performer Tori Lux was well-traveled, but always seemed to land in California. After spending some time in Georgia on two different occasions, Tori finally settled in California at the age of 16. Maybe she was meant to be there for her future career in the adult film industry?

When she turned 23 the self-proclaimed a “Sex-positive feminist person” entered the porn industry and has steadily built her career over the past year. I first noticed Tori in one of her earlier films for Burning Angel Entertainment called “POV Punx 4” and new this black-haired tattooed babe had something special. Since then Tori has went on to perform in roughly 40 films and 15 of those have been for Evil Angel, including four Belladonna films ("Fetish Fanatic 9," "No Warning 5," "Dark Meat 4," and "Odd Jobs 5"). They must really love her there.

Securing herself as a legitimate go-to girl in the industry, Tori Lux leaves no hole untapped. So we sit down with this rising star and find out more about her career, her tattoos and her love for the kinky side of sex.

Tell me about your tattoos. Who’s Katie and why “cunt” on your body?

Cunt, actually, originated as a feminist term in ancient Greek, Egyptian, etc. mythology.  It used to be synonymous with words like ‘priestess’, and generally meant ‘powerful woman.’ I thought that was really cool, and I just love the abrasiveness of the word as well so I had to get it tattooed on myself. ‘Katie’ is my mother.

Are you the Tori Lee on the Burning Angel site? If so how come you changed it to Lux?

Yes, I was originally Tori Lee, which is actually my real name. I changed it because I wanted to have the simplest URL possible for my future website (ex. www.torilux.com) and the link www.torilee.com had already been purchased by a real estate agent of the same name.

A friend helped me choose Lux as my new last name, which I’ve always liked…although I’ve never cared much about the stage name aspect, hence why I originally used my real name…I feel that the performance is far more important.

How instrumental was Joanna Angel in you decision to get into the adult business?

Joanna had a bit to do with my desire to enter the adult industry I suppose, but I have my own reasons for entering, some being the desire to express myself creatively and sexually, to create sexual art, and to enlighten myself and others sexually.

Joanna was a huge comfort to me when I met her, which was at my very first nude photo shoot. She is a very smart woman with a great maternal quality about her.

What does being a “Sex-positive feminist person” mean to you and do you feel there are more of those types of girls in the industry now?

Sex-positive feminism is definitely a key factor in who I am as a person and a performer. I feel that it’s important for a woman to know and accept herself sexually; to avoid repressing herself. It’s important also to distinguish the difference between the conventional belief that if a woman is sexual in some way or another that she lacks intelligence or self respect; I feel that a woman with true self respect (or other positive feelings about herself, etc) would allow herself to grow within and to learn about herself sexually, regardless of what society has taught her, simply because it brings her pleasure and a greater understanding of herself and her body.

And yes, I do feel that there are more sex-positive feminist women in the industry now than there have been in the past.

You’ve been in the industry about a year now, what have you learned and how do you like the business thus far?

I’ve learned a lot since entering the industry, mostly about myself and my sexuality. I absolutely love the business. I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.

That leads into my next question. If you weren’t in the adult business what do you think you would be doing?

I’d probably be in college studying to become a sex therapist or a college English, Literature or Art professor. Or I’d possibly be living on a commune, growing my own food and lying around in the sun reading and painting. Who knows?

What were your expectations going in porn and were you nervous?

Honestly I didn’t have any solid expectations because in a way that’s setting yourself up for disappointment, or whatever else. I entered the industry with an open mind. I suppose had that ‘hope for the best; expect the worst’ mentality in a way. I wasn’t disappointed with what I found upon entering the industry; I couldn’t have been happier with it.

Yes, I was extremely nervous, though it was thrilling. I’m a bit of an anxious person in general though…but I’ve learned to channel that anxiety positively into my work.

How do your parents feel about this new career choice in the adult industry?

I was honest with my family from the get-go. I didn’t want there to be any surprises. I waited until I had established myself a little bit though before I told my mother, so that she could see that my being in the adult industry is a positive change in my life and that I’ve got myself together. I didn’t want her to see it as an impulsive decision on my part. Her reaction was surprisingly good – she said, “Well, it’s not what I would have chosen for you but I guess as long as you’re happy and healthy, and you keep your mind stimulated.” She’s been surprisingly supportive.

As far as my other family members, they all know but I try not to, I guess, rub it in their faces, because I know they find it disagreeable.

What did you want to be when you were a kid?

I’ve always wanted to do something artistic with my life. As a kid I was always artistic, I drew, read, wrote and constantly did things like that…and I was also very sexual. I knew I wanted all those things incorporated but I just didn’t know exactly what it was that I wanted to do. Porn has been perfect for me in that sense.

Since you were sexual growing up, were you considered the local slut?

I have always been sexual. I was known as a slut for sure – even though I wasn’t necessarily promiscuous, especially compared to most of the people who accused me of being a slut, ironically enough. I was more sexually curious and open with my body and my sexuality. People are just afraid of sex I guess. They’re taught that it’s dirty and evil, though it’s the most natural thing in the world, and so beautiful…hence why I was known as the ‘neighborhood slut.’ Hahaha.

Let’s move ahead and talk about your career. You’ve done a lot of work with Evil Angel, including Belladonna. What is it about working with them which keeps you coming back?

I love how creative, filthy and raw most Evil Angel directors are, especially Belladonna. The kind of porn I intended on doing when I entered the industry is the kind of porn distributed by Evil Angel and created by people like Belladonna.

Although you’ve only been doing this a year or so, you’ve done it all including interracial and double penetration. Did you do all that before you got into the industry?

I did do interracial, anal, and most everything else before I got into porn. One thing I hadn’t done until I started doing porn was double penetration, which I was very excited about.  Double penetration is definitely one of my favorite sex acts.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve done in your personal life?

Hmm…group sex, pissing, fisting, double penetration…define ‘wildest’. Hahaha. Anything that I do onscreen I’d definitely do in my personal life.

What won’t you do sexually?

Anything that isn’t consensual, pedophilia, bestiality, fecal play. The obvious things.

What would you consider your biggest turn on or fetish?

When a person’s sense of self and sexuality are strong.

Do you masturbate everyday? What’s your toy of choice? What’s the strangest thing you’ve fucked yourself with?

I used to masturbate every day, and I still go through periods where I do masturbate every day. When I am it’s usually between two to four times per day at least. My favorite toy is my Hitachi Magic Wand, hands down. I could marry that thing.

Once I fucked myself with an open Corona bottle, and another time I fucked myself in the ass with a Blue Moon bottle. I suppose those are unusual things to put inside oneself.

You mentioned pissing and fisting, so I am guessing you are pretty kinky.

I’m absolutely into kinky sex. I favor rough sex primarily, like getting fish hooked, slapped around, and generally being treated like a degenerate. I love things involving piss and I LOVE getting fisted, although I prefer the hand of a girl to that of a guy because they’re smaller.

What is a fantasy you haven't done yet?

Hmm…that’s hard to say. I think I’ve tried just about everything I’ve wanted to try.

Have you ever had an embarrassing sex scene?

Sort of, but it wasn’t a sex scene. Before I was with my agent, Mark Spiegler, I did this sort of low-end femme-domme scene for the web. I’m generally not very dominant to begin with, plus it was just creepy and sort of lame.

Outside of the business, what do you do in your free time?

I spend time with people I care about, cook, collect records, read, write, draw, paint, see live music, etc. I enjoy doing a lot of various things.

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I took a break in the middle of completing this interview to eat a can of sardines.
