Catching up with multi award winning performer and director Kimberly Kane

Kimberly Kane was born 25 years ago in Tacoma, Washington and has steadily risen to the upper echelon of porn with her scenes and directing. In the late summer of 2008, she was even named one of the top 10 female directors, coming in respectively at number five by the website XCritic.

The artistic and sultry Kane is a veteran in the industry with 200 films to her credit, since entering the business in 2003. Her first scene was Troubled Teens in August 2003 when she was 20-years-old. But she is no stranger to porn. Kane had grown up around the industry with her mother who was a porn producer and exotic dancer.

As a performer, the luscious Miss Kane has been nominated for numerous awards, including eight AVN nominations and taking home a pair. In 2006, she won awards in 2006 for Best Group Sex Scene in a Video and Best Oral Sex Scene in a Video for the Hustler Video film Squealer. 2007 was also a banner year for Kane with six AVN nominations, including Female Performer of the Year and Best Actress in a Video for the Wicked Pictures’ The Visitors.

Another film Kane was nominated for was the 2006 Pulse Distribution’s Naked and Famous. This film was Kane’s directorial debut. Later that year, Kane also directed the Vivid Entertainment’s Triple Ecstasy. In 2008, Kane produced and starred in the hardcore hit film Morphine again under the Vivid-Alt moniker.

The charismatic 36B-27-34 porn star is known for her lavish appetite for hardcore sex, which she brings to all her films. We sat down with Kimberly Kane to talk about her time in the industry and what she is currently working on.

You were recognized by XCritic as one of the top ten female directors. You’ve also won a few AVN Awards. What do accomplishments like that mean to you?

My accomplishments mean a lot to me, but I'm never satisfied. I'm always trying to work harder.

What projects are you working on now as a director?

I'm finishing the final details on my next Vivid-Alt movie called Live In My Secrets set to release in December.

Since your mother was an adult film producer when you were younger, did you ever think that you might become a porn star one day?

My mother was never involved in the "mainstream adult business" She did produce an excellent softcore art film and it was very inspiring to me, but I never saw myself becoming a porn star because of it.

Since you came into the industry and did your first film Troubled Teens in 2003, how would you say the industry has changed?

I think the industry has really opened up into the mainstream more than ever before. I believe smarter people are making porn, watching it and demanding a higher standard.

Looking back on your career thus far, would you do anything different?

If I could go back and not do all that really bad porno, I probably would. I've done some pretty cheesy stuff in my day.

You’ve been in the business five years now. How far do you see yourself going and what would you like to accomplish?

Are you asking for my five year plan? LOL. Okay, I want to perform and direct in my own movies only. I want to work with a great company that will have my back and support me and my vision.

If you weren’t in the adult business what do you think you would be doing?

If I would have stayed up in the northwest, I probably would have kids or be on drugs or something, I didn't have a bright future up there.

With 200 films to your credit, what is a fantasy you haven't done yet?

I have a few fantasies that I keep to myself, so I can still masturbate at night! Gangbangs, transsexuals, double penetration, etc.

Have you ever done anything on film that you thought you would never do?

Anal, for sure. I always wanted to master it, but I was a slow learner. It was really hard for me to relax, but now I can really enjoy it. And, I think I might start doing it on a regular basis.

Have you ever had an embarrassing sex scene?

My first year in the business, I did a scene with Michael Stefano and Manuel Ferrara. I ate McDonald's French fries right before the scene (rookie move) and threw up all over Michael Stefano’s cock. I've never eaten before a scene since.

Outside of the business, what do you do in your free time?

I like to spend time at home and hang out with friends. I like going to the beach for walks, photography, going out to eat and visiting book stores, petting my lizard, cooking up my next big movie and traveling.

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I hate being a blonde.

What’s the strangest story a fan has ever told you or presents they ever given you?

I think the best things I get from fans are handwritten letters. They mostly just express their loyalty to you in small perfect handwriting. I have a collection of them that I'll probably use in a book someday.
