Jessica Drake cooking in the kitchen and cooking on screen in 2009

By Troy Michael

Multi-award winner and Wicked contract girl, Jessica Drake, has been in the adult film industry for a decade now. And, it looks like 2009 will be her biggest year ever.

This sexy 5’9” Texas blonde starred in the blockbuster House of Wicked released earlier this year, it was the first film in Wicked Pictures history where all the Wicked contract girls (Alektra Blue, Kaylani Lei, Kirsten Price, Mikayla Mendez and Stormy Daniels) all starred in the same movie.

In September, Drake had the lead role in Michael Raven’s psychological thriller Hush. Drake plays Rebecca Carter, a psychologist, working on conjunction with the Metropolitan Police Department to catch a serial killer.

To complete her big-budget trifecta for 2009, Drake is also starring in the huge Brad Armstrong directed sci-fi thriller, 2040. In the film, Drake plays Monica Sweet, a secretary at the fictional company called Real Doll. She plays a spy until the boss finds out. Then she is of course fired, and threatened with charges of corporate espionage for her efforts.

Needless to say, 2009 is looking great for fan favorite Jessica Drake. Even though she has an enormously busy schedule, she sat down with IWAdult.com after a 10-hour photo shoot for 2040 and talked with us about all her upcoming projects, a little bit about the past and what she likes to do away from the porn world.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to talk with us.

It’s my pleasure. Thank you for wanting to spend time with me. I am sorry it took so long. We were shooting wrap arounds and the box cover for 2040 today.

All day photo shoots sound like a lot of hard work.

When you sign up for something like this, you know what you’re getting in to, so it’s not that bad. You go in knowing it’s going to be a long day. But, I enjoy what I do.

You have one big film out now with House of Wicked. September will has two big releases with Hush and 2040. Tell everyone a little bit about Hush.

Well Hush is directed by Michael Raven. I play a police psychologist that works the police force. It’s a scary movie that’s dark and climatic at the end. I like that style of film a lot. I think Raven does dark, scary films very well.

You were a psychology major in college, did that help out for this role?

Yes, absolutely. I like any kind of role where I can sound a little bit brainy and I can get into my role. It is my nature that I love learning.

Did you get your degree in psychology?

With a psych degree, you really need a masters degree to do anything with it and I didn’t know that at the time when I signed up. So I only did that for three years. I really wasn’t sure what I wanted to do when I went to college. I started out taking several liberal arts classes, and then I got into psych classes. When I hit a certain point in my education, I met people in the industry and well you know the rest of the story.

How did your friends react when you got into the adult film industry?

People back home in Texas they were shocked that I got in the industry. But before I made the decision, I made two or three trips out to California to see how everything and the people worked.

Do you ever get back to the Lone Star State?

As a matter of fact, I just got back from Texas. I bought some real estate in Texas. I also put in bids on three other properties and it looks like I will get another one. I like to invest my money, but the first time I did I got burned.

I want to be a girl who takes care of her money, not one of those girls who blow money on shoes and clothes. I want to prepare for when I retire, not that I want to retire, because I love what I do. I busted my ass the last six to eight months and bought a house and another house. My goal is to own some duplexes or an apartment complex.

You mentioned retirement. You’ve been doing porn for 10 years now. Do you foresee a time when you will walk away from the industry?

I want to perform as long as I can. I don’t want to be sticking around past my expiration date. I don’t want to be that carton of milk in the refrigerator where no one throws it out.

I love what I do. I’ve worked with everyone that I wanted to work with. I’ve done everything I’ve on camera, because I wanted to do it, not because someone else was telling me to do it.

Is that one of the benefits of being a contract star?

I wouldn’t call it a benefit, because even gonzo girls have the right to say no to anything they don’t feel comfortable with. I wasn’t always a Wicked girl. I did gonzo. I know where I came from. It should be a right for a girl to choose what they want to do, not what they are told to do. You are establishing a work ethic, though I hate to use that term. You have to set your own rules and goals. You have to stay true to yourself.

Now that you are a contract girl, how do you feel about these gonzo girls and some of the acts they are doing?

I think the girls now are trying to one up each other. There are so many beautiful girls doing insane things that they try to outdo each other, because of the work. Parts of the industry have become a freak show and fans are realizing that.

With the internet, the freak show seems to keep on getting bigger.

There has been a huge influx of shitty porn, because of the internet. Now everyone can go to the electronics store, buy a camera and be a director. The internet has a lot to do with this. But, it can be positive. Wicked is doing more positive work on the internet and we at Wicked are firmly grounded.

I think that helps the company continue to make films like Fallen, Hush and 2040. Let’s get back to the film – 2040.

We are really excited about this film. 2040 is a look into the future of the porn industry. In the film, we are at a stage in the industry where different diseases and plagues eradicated human porn for the most part. People are seeking out droids for porn. There are a handful of human performers left, but humans are struggling against the droids

It’s amazing and one of the coolest movies that I’ve worked on. I also had a ton of dialogue in the film. We went all out with this movie. We have big sets and props and we even shot the orgy scene at the L.A. Theatre.

I also did my second on camera DP.  I will go back and say what I said before. I only do what I love. I’ve done DPs in my personal life with a guy and a toy, two toys and lots of fingers.  I did a DP in the orgy in Fallen and the scene was amazing.

The DP in 2040 is an orgy scene like in Fallen. So, maybe it is orgies that I love doing. It was the biggest orgy we’ve ever done on camera. During the scene, I was in the mood to get double penetrated. I do what I do based on my mood, not based on money.

You are a strong, confident woman. Looking back would you have done anything differently?

I think if I had to look back to change anything, I would have signed with Wicked quicker than I did. When I got into the industry, I never had a contract in mind, because I didn’t have a lot of confidence. But now, I feel like I am a spokesperson not only for Wicked, but for the industry. The more my career progressed the more confident I got and wanted to break that stereotype of bimbos in the industry.

Away from being a Wicked contract girl, how do you spend your time?

At the end of the day, I am laid back. I love to cook, clean and do laundry. My friends laugh at me, because I absolutely love doing laundry. I am just a regular girl. I will stay in and read a book, instead of going out to party. Don’t get me wrong, I like to go out and party sometimes. But where most people blow off steam by drinking or doing drugs, I love to cook. It relaxes me. I wear my boy shorts, a wife beater and put my hair in a ponytail and work it all out in the kitchen.

After all these years and more than 230 movies, does it still excite you to get fans off?

That is one of my favorite things. I think that is one of the reasons why I still love my job. I have a lot of fans write me who tell me they buy my movies and get off or they buy it for their wife and have a nice romantic evening together. I even get mail from guys who are lonely or not in a relationship, who get off to my scenes. That makes me feel good. I am flattered that I am the source of their orgasms.
