A Decade of Snow: Legendary Porn Star Aurora Snow Talks About Her Career and Her Future

In her tenth year doing porn Aurora Snow has done nearly everything there is to do. The beautiful girl with the great ass has appeared in over 500 films, directed a dozen and won numerous awards including the 2003 AVN Female Performer of the Year and a handful of XRCO Awards. Not to mention branching out into the mainstream world.

It’s been a long strange trip for the sexy 28-yeas-old who was born and raised in Santa Maria, Cali. Not many girls last a year or two let alone 10 in this ball busting industry, but the 34B-26-34 Aurora has been turning men and women on with some of the hottest and hardest scenes of the last decade.

However, Snow isn’t your typical porn star. That could very well be one of the reasons for her longevity. She started acting at the age of 12 in local commercials and plays then went on to the University of California- Irvine to further her education. Where Aurora is like a lot of porn performers, she saw an advertisement for for nude modeling during her first year of college. Not wanting to be strapped down with student loans for the rest of her life, Aurora took the job, which eventually led to making porn movies and she hasn’t looked back since.

Taking her name from her two favorite childhood fairy tale characters - Princess Aurora from “Sleeping Beauty” and “Snow White,” Aurora continues to be a fan favorite and critically acclaimed performer and we got a chance to sit down with her and ask some questions.

IWAdult: Not so long ago you made some news by posting a blog where you essentially said you went from "barely legal" to "older woman" over night. How’s the response been from that post?

Aurora Snow: I had a really good response. It was very nice and surprising. I didn’t know if anyone would say anything about that. One reponse that I got was “what are you going to do once you outed yourself.” I don’t know if I outed myself, I was just making a point that really happened to me.

I think some girls get into my age bracket and they automatically get pushed into doing MILF-type films. I’ve been in the business so long I don’t even know if it’s about my age. It just seems I am automatically put into the older category because I’ve been in the business for a decade and done so many movies.

Do you feel the industry puts too much emphasis on age? You have the barely legal stuff then jump to the MILF genre. There seems to be no middle ground.

I think sometimes the industry does focus to much on age. I think you made a good point, there is no middle ground, it’s either young or old.

There wass an instance where I was hired based on my looks by one company. When I got to the set the director was upset because when he saw all my paperwork he noticed I was 24 and he only hired 18-21-year0olds. I was only 24, and I certainly look younger than 24, but this one director felt like he was being duped.

I was also thinking, maybe the whole MILF thing is being emphasized because we have so many girls coming back into the business that were once retired. I don’t know if they are coming back because the MILF genre is so popular or the MILF genre is popular because the women are coming back. 

Yeah, it’s the old chicken or egg philosophy. Being you have been in the industry for 10 years now, how much longer do you see yourself making films?

I am definitely riding out my career and in a few years and I want to ride out on a good wave. I figure when I am 30 I will be out of the industry. It will be a new decade in my life and that’s the perfect time to move on to something new.

What do you plan on doing after porn?

I wanted to wrap my career up and start my 30s, go back to school and take it from there. I thought about my first love – acting – but that’s just a hobby I really enjoy. I love acting it’s my favorite part of doing porn when I get the chance. In fact, I just wrapped up a mainstream indie film and it was so fun. Doing acting outside of porn makes me learn so much more about myself and what I am capable of doing. I like when I get a part I get to go hang out at the local bookstore and read books in researching the part. I love to read.

In your long and celebrated career, have you ever been a contract girl seeing how they do more acting than gonzo girls?

I feel like because I’ve done hardcore sex, that’s people see me. So I don’t get cast for those types of contract movies. I mean I would love to do them and I think I would be good at them, but when most people are used to seeing you do gangbangs or DP scenes, the bigger companies just don’t have an interest in hiring you.

Speaking of your outrageous sex scenes…is pushing the limits something you do to challenge yourself or is it simply business?

I it more that I do like to challenge myself. I am very open minded when it comes to sex or anything really. When someone approaches me and asked if ive done something or would do something I am up for it. I like the challenge. I try to be honest, not only with myself, but the directors and fans. I hope that comes off in my scenes.

Speaking of those limits, you’ve done triple anal, how someone so small can handle that is beyond me. How did that work out?

I’ve only done a few double and triple anal. They weren’t planned, the director would ask and I would tell them if my body allows it then I would try it. It is all in the moment and you have to have a strong male cast.

How it works with most of my scenes is I warm up the day before with anal toys. This may sound crazy but you have to keep in shape like an athlete. Porn girls today are like athletes because the scenes are a lot of long hard work. You have to keep in shape, you have to stretch, which includes your ass because it is a muscle.

Before coming into porn, were you into the extreme sex or did it steadily progress over your career?

Believe it or not I was very conservative in sex before I got into the industry. Before porn I never had one-night stands, I was only with boyfriends when it came to sex. When I got into porn I was only going to do this for one year to make enough money to supplement my college bills. I planned on running away from the industry after one year, nine years later I am still here.

When I started I was so shy and quiet. I’d read my book in the corner and people would think I was snobby or bitchy. But I wasn’t. I was so shy. I am out of my shell now, but in my mind I am still this shy and quiet girl. But once I am out there on set or meeting fans, I am social and enjoy it more now.

You are well known for being very social with your fans at conventions…

I love my fans. I get recognized once or twice a day lately it’s really weird. Don’t get me wrong I am flattered, I love my fans so much. Recently When I was in DC I was covering the Stagliano trial and I got recognized a lot there by this conservative looking guy, like someone you’d never guess would watch my movies. It was pretty weird because he came off strong and kept following me.

But for the most part, my fans are great. I see regulars at conventions and they bring me gifts and I’ve met some of them so many times It’s like I know their family and ask how are their kids and stuff like that.

Have you ever fucked one of your fans?

Well technically…I don’t know if this counts. I had a scene with a new guy in the business and before we started he told me he was a big fan of mine before he got into the industry and would watch all my films. Does that count?

What is a fantasy you haven't done yet?

I don’t know if it counts as a fantasy I really wanted to have sex on the beach while it’s raining. Getting a guy to that is impossible. I don’t know what their hang up is about that, I’ve tried. It hasn’t happened yet.

What is you biggest turn on?

I really like someone who is confident and I love when a person knows how to use heir hands. I don’t mean sexual I mean sensual. There is a big difference. Hands, that is a big turn on for me.

Have you ever had an embarrassing sex scene?

Well which one could I choose really. If you’ve just done an anal seen and your ass is full of air and you have to be professional like in a job interview or casting call, you will have a bad case of farting. I also have this really bad habit of being blunt. I am honest and that’s not a good thing sometimes.

Looking back past all the men and women you’ve been with, how did you lose your virginity?

Well I didn’t experiment until I was 15. I had a boyfriend who was 16 and we went to the drive in movie and we’d make out all the time in his Mom’s van. Then one time I went for his pants and he was so nice, such a wonderful guy to have as a high school boyfriend. It was nice we got to fumble around together and explore in the back of the van.

Speaking of Mom’s, how do your parents feel about this career choice in the adult industry after a decade of work?

I am very close with my family. They always come first in my life. My grandma was the first to find out. She saw her little granddaughter on the box cover at one of her friends house. Then she told my mom “do you know what your daughter is doing?” My Mom called and asked if I was hard up for money, she was kind of beating around the bush trying to figure out how to ask, so I explained it all and told her if they don’t want to know don’t ask. It’s been great ever since then. My Mom is sweet and tries to be supportive and ask if I had a good day or bad day at work. But mostly, she wants to make sure I am going on to school and finish.

Looking back on your career thus far, would you do anything different?

I think I would have made a few different choices in my personal life - I made some poor choices there. But you learn from it and move on. I am who I am now from those experiences .This is the life we have and we choose how we live it, so I have no regrets.

Outside of the business, what do you do in your free time?

I love to read just about anything. I am a book worm. I love to cook too. I don’t think it is too bad either. I use my brothers to test it out. They seem to really love my pies…I got the pies down.

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

It’s an odd collection. I collect cameo necklaces. They are carved. You collect them at antique shops and thrift stores. I especially I like cat cameos. I also make my own jewelry too.

What do you think of the fans jerking off to you scenes?

Like I sad I adore my fans. I get very involved with them. I love having pen pals and when they write I send out real physical Christmas cards not the email type or fake ones. I also send people gifts when they write me.

As for them watching my films, I love them getting off to it. If I can have fans have their lives enhanced because of my sex scenes I love that. I’ve had many guys tell me they have watched my films with their girlfriends or wives to spice up their sex life. I’ve also had women say they’ve learned a few things from my scenes they tried in the bedroom too. So if I can make people happy and horny with better sex lives, I am all for it.
